The Government of Vanuatu, through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU), officially commissioned the Isangel Loop Road Project in Tanna, Tafea Province, on 13 August 2025. The handover ceremony was attended by the Australian Deputy Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Minister for International Development and the Pacific, alongside other government delegates, marking a significant milestone in Vanuatu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national infrastructure.

The Government of Vanuatu extends its sincere appreciation to the Government of Australia for its unwavering support and long-standing partnership in advancing infrastructure development across the country.

The Isangel Loop Road Project stands as a clear example of the impact of partnership. More than just a road, it is a lifeline for the people of Tanna — connecting communities, improving access to essential services, and supporting economic activities vital to local livelihoods.

This achievement reflects the strength of collaboration between the Governments of Vanuatu and Australia. The partnership extends well beyond the construction of roads; it is about building opportunities, fostering connections, and strengthening resilience.

While celebrating this important success, both governments also look to the future. The Vanuatu–Australia Infrastructure for Development (VAI4D) program continues to support critical infrastructure priorities under MIPU, including roads, ports, harbours, aviation, and the ongoing work of the Public Works Department (PWD).

This broader scope of collaboration will provide greater opportunities to enhance infrastructure across multiple sectors, laying a strong foundation for sustained growth and prosperity for the people of Vanuatu.
