Public Works Sanma Commences Mango Area Road Sealing Works
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU) through the Public Works Department (PWD) Sanma has successfully completed the Back Road project in Luganville and has now commenced sealing works on the Mango Area Road, marking another important milestone in the Government’s ongoing urban road improvement program.
The Mango Area Road Project is part of the Government’s broader commitment to enhance urban road infrastructure and ensure safer, smoother, and more reliable access for all communities. The project scope includes the construction of proper cross drainage systems, road gravelling, and sealing works covering a total distance of 3 kilometres. Sealing works officially began today following weeks of preparation, including road base stabilization and drainage improvements.
The project is expected to be completed before the end of this year, subject to favorable weather conditions. Once completed, the upgraded Mango Area Road will greatly improve accessibility for residents and business owners in the area.
It will also reduce travel time, minimize vehicle maintenance costs, and promote local economic activity by improving connectivity between key business zones and residential areas within Luganville.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, through PWD, continues to prioritize infrastructure that supports economic growth, community wellbeing, and sustainable development. This project also contributes directly to achieving the Government’s Public Road Policy, which aims to seal all urban roads across Vanuatu.
