MIPU & PWD Urban and Rural Roads Rehabilitation Initiative – Progress Update
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU), in partnership with the Public Works Department (PWD), continues to advance work under the Urban and Rural Roads Rehabilitation Initiative.
This initiative is a key component of the Government’s effort to enhance accessibility, improve transport safety, and strengthen infrastructure resilience across Vanuatu.
Today, Mataru Construction progressed with the fibre-reinforced concrete pavement works along the targeted road section. This modern construction technique is being applied to improve road durability and overall performance, particularly in areas with high traffic flow and increased climate vulnerability.
Project details are as follows:
Total pavement length: 360m
Width: 5m
Pavement pour completed today: 45m
Current location: Holen White Wood area
This progress marks another significant step forward in delivering long-lasting, reliable transport networks for communities, local businesses, and public services. MIPU and PWD remain dedicated to providing improved, safer, and more resilient roads throughout Vanuatu, supporting ongoing national development priorities and community wellbeing.
