Contract Signed for Wharf Road Landslide Clearance

The Honorable Xavier Emanuel Harry, Minister of Public Utilities and Infrastructure (MIPU), together with the Joint Venture Enterprise Dinh Van Tu Ltd & Ward Brunet, has officially signed the Wharf Road Landslide Clearance Contract. This project is made possible through the continued support of the Australian Government.

Valued at VUV 189 million, the contract forms part of the Government of Vanuatu’s ongoing response to the 17 December 2024 earthquake recovery efforts. Works are scheduled to commence in the first week of December 2025.

The scope of works includes the clearing of landslide debris, installation of rock protection fencing, and the re-opening of the road to restore safe access and connectivity.

MIPU and the Public Works Department acknowledge the Vanuatu–Australia Partnership for its continued support to Vanuatu’s infrastructure development, including these critical earthquake recovery works. This project demonstrates the strength of international partnerships in delivering long-term connectivity, safety, and resilience for communities.
